Rent is a rock opera with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. On Broadway, Rent gained critical acclaim and won a Tony Award for Best Musical among other awards. The Broadway production closed on September 7, 2008, after a 12-year run and 5,124 performances, making it the ninth-longest-running Broadway show by that time, ten years behind The Phantom of the Opera as of December 2009

Ninety-nine years ago this month, the RMS Titanic sank on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, taking over 1,500 souls with her. Orpheus will mark the 100th anniversary of this legendary event with our production of Titanic: The Musical in spring 2012. This award-winning musical (unrelated to the James Cameron movie) by Maury Yeston and Peter Stone is based on real passengers and events. Titanic premiered on Broadway on April 23, 1997, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it ran for 26 previews and 804 performances, winning five Tony Awards.
