Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel

As adapted by Benjamin F. Glazer
Based on the Play LILIOM by Ferenc Molnar
Music by Richard Rodgers

Show Information

Set on the Maine coastline, the story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan comes at the price of both their jobs. He attempts a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child; after it goes wrong, he is given a chance to make things right. A secondary plot line deals with millworker Carrie Pipperidge and her romance with ambitious fisherman Enoch Snow. The show includes such well-known songs as "If I Loved You", "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "You'll Never Walk Alone"

2012-2013 Production

Carousel LogoPresented May 31-June 9, 2013 at Centrepointe, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

While keeping true to the story, this Orpheus production of Carousel will be a revival of our own making, appealing and relevant to a 2013 audience. The themes are timeless and universal. This is supported by the fact that the story has been a success in nearly every decade of the past 100 years.
