Orpheus Musical Theatre will be a leader in the performing arts industry by producing, performing and promoting quality musical entertainment creating value for the community, the society and the volunteers.

To bring the community together through a society of volunteers, who share the love of all aspects of musical entertainment and the joy of performing.

Orpheus has always been about people and we’ve been entertaining audiences since 1906.

For over 100 years and under a variety of names, we have expanded to the current three fully staged musical shows per season, featuring the best local performers, and a professional orchestra. Over the years, we have produced almost all of the major Broadway shows, numerous Ottawa premieres, some Canadian premieres, as well as three world premieres of shows we commissioned. In addition to the major shows, we have brought many less well known, but still wonderful, shows to Ottawa audiences at an affordable price.

We are also very proud of our community ambassadors - The Orpheus Choral Group. They are large mixed choir which performs in many locations around the region. It provides a varied musical outlet for those members who are not able to participate in our shows and wish to sing in an organized performing choir.

The Society owns its own building for rehearsals, set and costume construction, and social activities, but perform at the Centrepointe Theatre in Ottawa. Our shows are cast from open auditions which are announced in the press. Anyone wishing to audition is welcome. We also welcome volunteers for all other aspects of theatre production, from designing through production of sets, props, costumes, and everything else which goes to produce a show.
